The Final Frontier (2009–present)

On 16 August (17 in the United States) the band released the album to enormously positive reviews. The album would go on to reach #1 in 40 countries, including the UK and Canada, reaching #4 in the US charts.

On 6 September 2010 The Final Frontier debuted at #1 in a further ten countries. The Final Frontier remained at #1 for 3 consecutive weeks on the Billboard Hard Rock Albums chart and three on the European Albums Chart.

The Final Frontier is the band's most successful achievement, in terms of chart success, in their 30 years of recording history. The album reached #1 in the respective Albums Charts in: UK, Sweden, Greece, Iceland, Germany, Switzerland, Austria, Italy, France, Slovenia, Slovakia, Russia, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Serbia, Bulgaria, Romania, Croatia, Czech Republic, Hungary, Denmark, Portugal, Spain, Norway, Finland, Canada, Japan, India, New Zealand, Brazil, Colombia, Mexico, Chile, Costa Rica, Argentina, Saudi Arabia, UAE, Venezuela & Luxembourg.^[64]

On 21 September, the official web site of the band announced a series of upcoming tour dates in Nordic lands, as a part of their Summer European Tour 2011. Iron Maiden booked stadium-sized shows in Denmark, Sweden, Finland and Norway. On 11 November, the band confirmed they would end the Final Frontier World tour with a 10 date arena tour of the United Kingdom including shows in all four home countries and finishing at the o2 Arena in London on Saturday 6 August 2011.

On December 1, 2010, the song "El Dorado" was nominated for a Grammy for Best Metal Performance. It is the band's third Grammy nomination, following "Fear of the Dark" (nominated at 1994 Grammys) and "The Wicker Man" (nominated at the 2001 Grammys).
